High-Tc Superconducting Josephson Junction Harmonic Mixers with Stub Tuners on Integrated Bowtie Antennas

چکیده

Ordinary mixers can hardly meet the requirements in terahertz (THz) communications due to low-power and expensive THz sources. Sensitive harmonic have been widely studied avoid this problem, owing fact that higher number of harmonics, lower local oscillator (LO) frequency, cost. High-Tc superconducting (HTS) Josephson junction (JJ) are performing candidates for receiver frontends because advantages excellent sensitivity, wide bandwidth, high low LO power requirement. However, normal-state resistance HTS JJ is so traditional antennas difficult match it. In other words, it quite a challenge input impedance antennas, especially fed by coplanar striplines (CPSs). work, based on structure bowtie, two types stub tuners were integrated decrease bowtie antenna as improve coupling efficiency between JJ. Furthermore, YBa2Cu3O7-δ (YBCO) coupled with proposed structures CPSs fabricated measured. The measurements show mixer pair open-end stubs achieves up 88 conversion −69.6 dB. contrast, lumped-element only attains 30 −73.4 Additional numerical simulations indicate enhanced when complex explicitly considered. Compared has largest number. This work paves way future application low-frequency low-cost communications.

multi-Josephson junction model of high Tc superconductors

By use of the multi-Josephson junction model, we investigate voltage-biased I-V characteristics. Differently from the case of the single junction, I-V characteristics show a complicated behavior due to inter-layer couplings among superconducting phase differences mediated by the charging effect. We show that there exist three characteristic regions, which are identified by jumps and cusps in th...

Y-junction of superconducting Josephson chains

We show that, for pertinent values of the fabrication and control parameters, an attractive finite coupling fixed point emerges in the phase diagram of a Y-junction of superconducting Josephson chains. The new fixed point arises only when the dimensionless flux piercing the central loop of the network equals π and, thus, does not break time-reversal invariance; for φ 6= π, only the strongly cou...

Vibrating superconducting island in a Josephson junction.

We consider a combined nanomechanical-supercondcuting device that allows the Cooper pair tunneling to interfere with the mechanical motion of the middle superconducting island. Coupling of mechanical oscillations of a superconducting island between two superconducting leads to the electronic tunneling generates a supercurrent that is modulated by the oscillatory motion of the island. This coupl...

Superconducting pi qubit with a ferromagnetic Josephson junction.

Solid-state qubits have the potential for the large-scale integration and for the flexibility of layout for quantum computing. However, their short decoherence time due to the coupling to the environment remains an important problem to be overcome. We propose a new superconducting qubit which incorporates a spin-electronic device: the qubit consists of a superconducting ring with a ferromagneti...

Low-noise submillimeter-wave NbTiN superconducting tunnel junction mixers

We have developed a low-noise 850 GHz superconductor–insulator–superconductor quasiparticle mixer with NbTiN thin-film microstrip tuning circuits and hybrid Nb/AlN/NbTiN tunnel junctions. The mixer uses a quasioptical configuration with a planar twin-slot antenna feeding a two-junction tuning circuit. At 798 GHz, we measured an uncorrected double-sideband receiver noise temperature of TRX5260 K...
